Turistická sezona v Chorvatsku v loňském roce jen těsně zaostala za předcovidovým rekordem. Počet hostů se proti roku 2021 zvýšil více než o třetinu a dosáhl téměř 19 milionů, počet noclehů pak vzrostl o čtvrtinu na 105 milionů. Podle agentury HINA to vyplývá z předběžných výsledků, které zveřejnilo ministerstvo cestovního ruchu. Čechů přijelo do země přes 890 000, což je mezi zahraničními hosty řadí na šesté místo.

V rekordním roce 2019, který byl posledním před vypuknutím pandemie covidu-19, navštívilo Chorvatsko 21 milionů turistů. Absolvovali přitom 109 milionu noclehů. Úspěšnější však byla loňská sezona z hlediska příjmů od zahraničních turistů. Za prvních devět měsíců činily bezmála 12 miliard eur. Je to zhruba o čtvrtinu více než ve srovnatelném období roku 2019.

Naprostou většinu noclehů (95 procent) v chorvatských ubytovacích zařízeních absolvovali zahraniční hosté. Nejvíce Němci (téměř 25 milionů), následováni Slovinci (10,1 milionu), Rakušany (8,2 milionu), Poláky (6,7 milionu) a Čechy (šest milionů). Pro turisty z České republiky představuje Chorvatsko jednu k nejčastějších prázdninových destinací.

Mezi chorvatskými regiony byla loni turisticky nejúspěšnější Istrie, kde přenocovalo téměř 30 milionů hostů. V případě měst to byla Rovinj, následována Dubrovníkem, Porečí a Splitem.

Cestovní ruch v Chorvatsku má v nadcházející sezoně velká očekávání, která pramení ze vstupu země do eurozóny a do schengenského prostoru volného pohybu osob k datu 1. ledna. Země se tím patrně stane ještě atraktivnější pro turisty, kterým odpadne často mnohahodinové čekání na hranicích. Pohodlnější bude pro velkou část zahraničních hostů i placení jednotnou evropskou měnou.
