Beyond the slope: Free-ride Monday on the Kitzsteinhorn
Every Monday from 25 November 2013 to 2 May 2014, winter sports enthusiasts aged 13 years or older can experience the fascination of free-riding. From 10 am to 12.30 pm professionals demonstrate the correct riding techniques and give important safety tips. Both “Start up” tours for beginners and “Advanced” tours for skiers and snowboarders that are experienced in skiing beyond the slopes are offered.
NostalSki on the Schmittenhöhe
Whether spectator or participant – NostalSki, the biggest nostalgia ski race of the Alps, is an absolute must for all nostalgia enthusiasts taking place on the local mountain of Zell on 1 March 2014. Equipped with historic dresses and vintage skiing equipment numerous participants from different nations take part in NostalSki individually or in teams and try to be the first to cross the finishing line in the giant slalom race.
Ski & Golf World Champs 2014
A rare combination: the first day of the Ski & Golf World Cup, which takes place from 8 to 11 May 2014, starts with a giant slalom on the Kitzsteinhorn. On the following days the golf tournament takes place on the golf court Zell am See-Kaprun. The number of strikes of the two games of golf (36 holes) are added to the results of the ski race in a combined points system. Eligible are ski and golf professionals as well as amateurs that are members of an accredited golf club with a proven handicap of at least 18.
Fine Wines and Regional Delicacies: Culinary Art in Winter
Red Turns – Indulgence in wine at 2,000 meters
The Schmittenhöhe invites visitors to indulge in wine at 2,000 meters during the “Red Turns” from 14 to 16 March 2014. In numerous huts and mountain restaurants on the local mountain of Zell, traditional vintners from the Burgenland present themselves and offer exquisite red wines for tasting.
“Delectation” with starred chef Roland Trettl at 3,029 meters
Renowned starred chefs cook in the summit restaurant on the Kitzsteinhorn on the occasion of the extraordinary culinary event “Delectation” creating meals that are typical of the region. On 6 October 2013 the chef of the Salzburg restaurant Hangar-7, Roland Trettl, cooks exquisite meals in the most altitudinous restaurant of Salzburg. Wines from traditional vineyards from South Tyrol complete the guest performance with fine wines. The expansive view from the panorama windows ensures that a visit becomes an unforgettable culinary experience.
