Since the end of 2012 there is a new „Natural Domicile“ for cycle tourists in East Tyrol: The Gradonna****S Mountain ResortChâlets & Hotel is located at 1,350 metres above sea level in Kals at Großglockner and at the gateway to the Hohe Tauern National Park. Underground parking means that the entire resort is car free.
Depending on preferences, you can either reside in the four star superior standard Gradonna****s-Hotel or in one of the 41 inviting wooden châlets, suitable for six to eight persons. An extensive network of cycle paths crosses directly through the Gradonna****s Mountain Resort and into the Hohe Tauern National Park. Whether an ambitious pedal pusher, or just a nature lover that likes to discover the landscapes by bike or with the family: everyone will find a suitable and well sign posted mountain bike route in this largest nature reserve in the entire Alpine region, as well as lots of rustic places to stop for welcome refreshments. Not only that, you also have the choice between a mountain bike and an e-bike, which is gentler on both your joints and exertion levels.
The final destination in the day for most is the 3,000 m2 of spa, bathing and sauna facilities in the Gradonna****s Mountain Resort. A mountain pine oil bath is definitely recommended after a day in the saddle, which revives weary limbs with its’ “Mountain Blessing” properties. Those who prefer to get back to resting pulse levels by swimming a few laps can dive into the indoor or outdoor pools or the natural swimming lake. Those, however, with energy left over will enjoy using the gym, bouldering and climbing room. Bike enthusiasts staying in one of the 41 Gradonna-Châlets can indulge in the essential pleasures of rest and relaxation in their own private spa. Châlet guests can also savour the Gradonna****s half board and culinary services, which include a generous breakfast buffet with East Tyrolean specialities, an afternoon snack and several course evening meal or buffet.
