Africa Showcase launches in Central Eastern Europe

Africa Showcase Roadshow connects travel trade across Poland, Hungary and Czechia.

The global roadshow – Africa Showcase – was launched in Central Eastern Europe this week with travel trade workshops hosted in Poland, Hungary and Czechia.  This dynamic region is by far the fastest growing in Europe with travel to Africa showing dramatic growth and out-performing many conventional markets in recent years.

‘It has been a ground-breaking week for Africa Showcase in Central Eastern Europe,’ said Jacqui Reynolds, co-owner of On Solutions. ‘The enthusiasm from the agents and operators has exceeded our expectations’.

Operating globally since 2009 in North America, Asia, Australasia, Africa and Europe, the Africa Showcase roadshows connect local travel trade to suitable African suppliers. The events bring together a variety of African operators, safari lodges, hotels and experiences, all carefully curated to match the needs of the source market. The buyers are pre-qualified as Africa specialists, or top-producing agents and operators with the potential to sell Africa to their long-haul clients.

Sub-Saharan Africa noticed Czechia during the pandemic when many African destinations saw a sharp rise in Czech arrivals.

‘The stengthening Czech crown and the strong economic stability is fueling outbound tourism as Czechs are known to spend a large amount of disposable income on foreign travel,’ said Paddington Tucker, CEO of destination marketing specialist Travel Advance who partner with Africa Showcase across the Central Eastern European region. Tucker elaborated ‘We have observed impressive growth to Africa since the pandemic so our mission now is to build on the good perception of the destination in the market and increase the offerings sold by the Czech trade.’

Direct flights are already operating between Czechia and Kenya, Tanzania/Zanzibar and Madagascar and it will be important to build direct connectivity to Southern Africa in the future.

In Prague, exhibitors met 40 top leisure operators who enjoyed the African ambience and hospitality.
