Variety-packed skiing enjoyment awaits you during a winter vacation in Gastein, for Gastein valley has the perfect piste in store for all ability levels_ 5 spacious ski areas ranging as high as 2700 m in elevation, deep-snow and moguls hills, carving slopes and freerides bring boundless diversity to any ski vacation. Some 50 cable cars and ski lifts, with over 220 km of exceptionally groomed slopes and snow conditions you can always count on, make Gastein valley one of the most attractive ski areas in the entire country. And a true dream for freeriders: high-alpine Sportgastein, where the backcountry is vast and open. One special attraction is the 140 m-long suspension footbridge on the Stubnerkogel, which hangs above a 28 m abyss and, at 2400 m above sea level, is actually the highest such bridge in Europe.

From the pistes to the spas

What could possibly be more relaxing after a long day of skiing, than to unwind those over-taxed muscles in soothing warm waters, or to heat up those cold bones in a sauna? For hundreds of years, the healing and beneficial effects of the water from Gastein’s hot springs have been known far beyond our borders. Recharge your own batteries for the next day ahead at Felsentherme Bad Gastein or, stretched out on a lounger at Alpentherme Bad Hofgastein, let your thoughts and spirits wander as you gaze out on the imposing mountain scenery.

Characterized by an interplay of water and rock, Felsentherme Gastein, with its outstanding architecture, exudes a unique atmosphere. One million liters of water from 17 hot springs feed the spools of this spa resort. The Alpentherme in Bad Hofgastein fairly regards itself as Europe’s most modern Alpine world of recreation and health: Six worlds of fun, adventure and health, as well as its own mountain lake, serve up wellness at its most enjoyable and most exceptional. At these two top resorts, avid skiers find everything their hearts could possibly desire: From magical outdoor pools, which steam mystically in the midst of the snowy winter countryside, to a variety of saunas and steam baths, and an array of relaxing massages. In the healing galleries of the Gasteiner Heilstollen, too, winter sports enthusiasts tap into new sources of energy for the days ahead amid air temperatures of 37.5 to 41.5 degrees Celsius, humidity between 70 and almost 100 percent, as well as air containing elevated, medicinal levels of radon.

The Plus for every Vacation

With the Gastein Card, visitors to Gastein now benefit from a guest card accepted throughout the valley. True to its motto “The Plus for your vacation”, all guests receive their electronic Guest Card – which looks very much like a standard bank card – the moment they arrive at their accommodations. This winter, yet again, around 50 attractions are available to card holders, either at sometimes drastically reduced prices or, in some cases, absolutely free of charge.
