Welcome to Lake Geneva Region – news 2013/2014

The canton of Vaud (Lake Geneva Region) is situated in the southwestern and French-speaking part of Switzerland between the lakes of Geneva and Neuchâtel, where good living comes naturally. Indeed, it is the savoir vivre of the Lake Geneva Region which accounts for its attractiveness. The Olympic Museum in Lausanne reopens this winter

This institution, tracing the history of the Olympic Games, has been closed for renovation during 18 months. This break will allow the museum to showcase the extraordinary legacy that it promotes even better! Near to the museum, a four meter-tall countdown clock has been installed to show the time left until the next Olympics. http://www.olympic.org/museum

 

Lausanne Jardins: A different discovery of Lausanne

In 2014, the capital of the region will highlight its treasure trove of parks. The fifth edition of Lausanne Jardins will present about thirty contemporary gardens created by landscape architects from all around the globe. Twenty-five spots in the city center will propose four walks full of surprises, where visitors can discover unique areas of Lausanne. www.lausannejardins.ch

 

Opening of the Charlie Chaplin Museum in 2015 in Vevey

Building work has started at the end of May. The draft of the Chaplin’s World, The Modern Times Museum, is now becoming concrete! The Museum site features a wide variety of discoveries, experiences and emotions evoked through interactive and virtual communication. www.chaplinmuseum.com

 

New rooms at the Beau-Rivage Palace in Lausanne

Thirty-seven rooms at the Beau-Rivage Palace on the shore of Lake Geneva, have just been given a facelift at the hands of a famous designer, Pierre-Yves Rochon. The clever use of mirrors introduces water and light into the rooms, creating a luminous ambience. This is the first stage of a refurbishment that will include 61 more rooms until May 2014. www.brp.ch
