No need to struggle to make the right decision – with a holiday in Innsbruck and its Holiday resorts you get the best of both worlds, the city AND the mountains. Where else can you take a designer cable car from a historic city centre that whisks you up in 2,000 metres altitude for afternoon tea? Only in Innsbruck, the capital of the Alps.

One minute you relax in one of Innsbruck’s many street cafés surrounded by the magnificent medieval buildings of the historic old town – and in only 20 minutes you find yourself on a mountain restaurant terrace at an altitude of 2,000 metres.

As a much lauded result of the reconstruction of the Nordkette cable railways, you can now commence your journey on the new funicular in the very heart of the city. Designed by star architect Zaha Hadid, the unique construction of its stations and the cable-stayed bridge across the river Inn set new standards in international architecture. The mountain has never been so close! Seegrube as well as the Hafelekar summit station are perfect starting points for leisurely hikes and thrilling mountain-climbing adventures.

Après-hike entertainment options are many and varied, be it a relaxing stroll along the modern Maria-Theresien-Strasse, or perhaps enjoying an aperitif in one of the many charming local pubs – before moving on to the culinary delights of Innsbruck’s gourmet dining scene, where you get to enjoy such special treats as tender Tyrolean mountain lamb as well as internationally inspired dishes created by the numerous award-winning chefs in town.

The Innsbruck Festival of Early Music celebrates the masters of music from the Renaissance and Baroque eras, while the programme of the annual Tanzsommer Innsbruck dance festival takes you on an artistic journey around the world. The popular Innsbruck Promenade Concerts will fill the air of the Imperial Palace’s inner courtyard with beautiful waltz melodies full of nostalgia. The city’s market square by the Inn river will once again play host to the New Orleans Festival offering the happy crowd jazz, swing together with a touch of soul  music in a convivial atmosphere.
