Restaurant proprietors along Europe’s motorways with a success story to look back on like Rosenberger’s are few and far between. Heinz J. Rosenberger opened the first restaurant directly linked to the motorway in 1972, thus laying the foundation for a type of travel breaks hitherto unheard of in Austria. This year the company celebrates its 40th anniversary with 19 locations across Austria, 20 restaurants (a la carte services and Market Restaurants), three Motor Hotels and seven convention centres, setting Rosenberger apart as the strongest brand along Austria’s motorways and the one richest in tradition.

INNOVATION FOR 40 YEARS

Heinz J. Rosenberger is easily the grand pioneer in Austrian motorway gastronomy. It was upon his initiative that the first checkout systems for quick and easy payment transactions were installed, salad buffets with a wide selection of fresh and crisp produce were arranged, and the first gift and souvenir shops and market restaurants were introduced. Special efforts were made for the young and very young from the very beginning, including services, such as the kids birthday club, separate children’s menus, spacious playgrounds, amply furnished play corners, table mats for children and the long popular Rosenberger paper crowns. More recently, several locations have bee refurbished to boost the company’s spirit of innovation. More than six million guests annually are rewarded with top hospitality in contemporary style and comfort.

In Keeping with Tradition: Rosenberger Guarantees Freshness and Austrian Resta urant Culture Culinary delights at Rosenberger’s have stood their test for the past 40 years: they are fresh, seasonal and regional. As ambassador of typical Austrian hospitality Rosenberger is particularly keen to present regional delicacies, offering classical Austrian dishes and a selection of typical specialities along with Mediterranean and international food at all its restaurants.

Austria’s famous coffee culture also has its place at Rosenberger’s. The long legendary Rosenberger’s Imperial Melange makes for perfect coffee indulgence and a “mug to take home with” at the same time. Rosenberger’s restaurants have picked up on the growing trend of wholesome food, creating the “Rosenberger’s Fresh and Vital Line” which includes light, refreshing snacks packed with vitamins and cut to the needs of people on the road.

New Locations for Even More Opport unities to Take a Break

Three new Rosenberger locations were added to the network last year. Austria’s highest motorway restaurant (at an altitude of 1350 m) with a capacity to seat 300 guests was opened along the busy Brenner motorway, the location at Deutschfeistritz was adapted to Rosenberger’s high standards of hospitality and a Market Restaurant plus Motor Hotel, convention centre and separate children’s restaurant, featuring exceptional architectural details, was opened along the S1 near Deutsch-Wagram.

Other locations were revitalised and equipped with new attractions. Among them the City Restaurant in Vienna’s first district with a capacity to seat more than 500 guests on three levels and the bistro concept “R to go“ offering Rosenberger’s delicacies for those in a rush.
